The project “Beyond 30×30: Ensuring resilience in the Eastern Tropical Pacific through enhanced transboundary cooperation” is seeking a key hire: CMAR Governance & Sustainability Lead. (See Terms of Reference.)
Within this regional initiative—implemented by Fundación Pacífico together with Conservation International (CI-GEF) and the Eastern Tropical Pacific Marine Corridor (CMAR)—you’ll join a team dedicated to marine conservation, international cooperation, and institutional strengthening across Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Panama.
“Beyond 30×30” goes a step further than the global conservation target: it’s not only about protecting 30% of the ocean, but ensuring those areas are sustainable, climate-resilient, and managed with a long-term vision. To do so, the project strengthens regional governance, improves ecological connectivity among countries, and promotes a fair, durable blue economy in the Eastern Tropical Pacific.
The selected professional will lead CMAR’s governance and sustainability component, working closely with the CMAR Executive Secretariat and technical teams in the four countries. The mission: consolidate regional governance frameworks, advance CMAR’s long-term financial sustainability, and turn cooperation among governments, communities, and environmental organizations into tangible results for marine ecosystems—and for the people whose livelihoods depend on them.
Profile. University degree in social, natural or environmental sciences, international relations, or related fields (postgraduate studies preferred), minimum five years of professional experience and at least four years coordinating multidisciplinary teams or international projects. Experience in marine governance, multilateral cooperation, and projects funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) is highly valued.
We’re looking for a proactive, assertive leader who thrives in multicultural settings, builds fluent relationships with diverse stakeholders, and delivers concrete outcomes. The contractual duty station is Panama, with travel as needed across the CMAR region.
About Fundación Pacífico. A regional platform formed by the environmental funds Patrimonio Natural, Fondo Acción, Costa Rica por Siempre, and Fundación Natura, created to coordinate efforts and mobilize resources for marine-coastal conservation in the Tropical Eastern Pacific. Through this project, we aim to strengthen cross-border cooperation and secure CMAR’s long-term sustainability.
How to apply. Send your application by November 20, 2025 to convocatorias@redpacifico.net, attaching: (1) your CV, (2) an ID copy, and (3) three professional references. (See Terms of Reference.) Please also complete the downloadable data-processing annex and include it with your submission.
If you’re passionate about the ocean, environmental governance, and collaborative work across countries, this is your chance to bring leadership and vision to the future of one of the planet’s most biodiverse marine corridors.
