
Objective
To contribute to a more efficient and harmonious management of marine biodiversity in the Tropical Eastern Central Pacific
Expected results:
PACÍFICO is consolidated as a permanent and sustainable financial mechanism for biodiversity conservation in the Tropical Eastern Central Pacific (TECP).
Blue Economy pilot initiatives related to marine protected areas in the TECP receive support to transition toward more ecological, sustainable, efficient, and socially equitable practices.
Lessons learned about the Blue Economy are exchanged between the TECP and other regions, and within the TECP among community leaders and marine protected area authorities.
Targets
An additional 2.56 million euros are mobilized through PACÍFICO.
At least 4 Blue Economy pilot initiatives are supported, 50% of which are either led by women or directly benefit women.
At least 2 knowledge exchange events are organized during the project, including the participation of PETC community leaders, marine protected area staff, and stakeholders from other marine or coastal regions.
Duration:4 years
FFEM contribution: 2,56 million euros.
